Ba Ham Lake: A Guide To The "Three Tunnels" Lake

Location
Ba Ham Lake, situated in Lan Ha Bay to the southwest of Halong Bay, is located on Dau Be Island. The lake comprises three large bodies of water interconnected by three cave tunnels—hence, 'Ba Ham' can be translated to 'three tunnels' in English.

Getting there
Access to Ba Ham Lake is exclusively by kayak or traditional Vietnamese sampan boat due to its isolated setting amidst towering mountains. As visitors navigate through the cave tunnels, they can closely observe the stunning stalactites suspended from the cave ceilings, which rise approximately 4 meters high.

The lake's deep, crystal-clear waters often allow visitors to glimpse schools of fish swimming just below the surface. Surrounding the lakes, one might also encounter Golden Langur monkeys, flying squirrels, and various parrot species, along with other wildlife endemic to Halong Bay.
